This truly unique waterside development was designed by Will Alsop in 2004. The Community In A Cube or CIAC Building is located in the city of Middlesbrough and sits proudly on the site of Middlesbrough's old docks.
The architectural CIAC Building has 82 apartments which consist of studio, one and two bedroom apartments. In addition, two vernacular houses appear to be nestled on the roof. The apartments benefit from modern fitted kitchens and bathrooms and enjoy a communal garden on the first floor. The apartments have high ceilings and large windows which enable residents to delight in the stunning waterside views. Residents also have access to dedicated parking.
Much time and effort was taken in the design of The CIAC Building to meet eco-friendly and sustainable living standards. For example, the hot water and heating is derived from a wood chip biomass boiler and to stop heat loss, the walls are heavily insulated. The CIAC Building also offers residents electrical vehicle charging points and a bicycle storage facility.
Residents can enjoy nearby local amenities and The CIAC Building is in close proximity to Middlesbrough train station offering Northern and Transpennine Express routes with good road network routes also available.
